EDUCATION NETWORKS OF AMERICA CELEBRATES 20 YEARS of CONNECTING COMMUNITIES
March, 9 2017

Nashville, TN (March 9, 2016) – Education Networks of America (ENA), a leading network service provider for school districts and libraries nationwide, is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2016. In 1996, ENA began with a vision to provide Internet access to every K–12 school in Tennessee. ENA made that vision a reality by creating the first statewide K–12 network in the nation. As Tennessee Governor Don Sundquist said at the time, “The walls of the little red schoolhouse are expanding for every student in Tennessee.”

Today, ENA has greatly expanded its vision and now delivers robust and reliable broadband, Wi-Fi/LAN, voice, and video services to school districts and libraries nationwide. ENA has worked side-by-side with its education and library partners for the last 20 years to ensure they have the connectivity, communication, and collaboration solutions they need to produce successful outcomes.

“ENA is thankful for our customers for making this anniversary possible,” said David Pierce, CEO of ENA. “Their feedback has shaped our company through the years, and their trust in our ability to support them and meet their dynamically changing needs has sustained us. We look forward to continuing to serve our valued education and library communities for many years to come.”

According to company leadership, ENA’s dedication to the education and library communities it serves, combined with a passion for customer service, sets ENA apart. Empowered by converged networks and other solutions that save them time, money, and frustration, ENA’s customers are free to focus on what matters most: preparing students, strengthening communities, and leading educational enterprises through the 21st century, they said.

Significant milestones and achievements for ENA over the past 20 years include

Enabled Tennessee to be the first state to connect every K–12 public school under one program to the Internet, establishing the first statewide network in the nation
Created the model for providing managed network connectivity, Wi-Fi, and other managed services to schools and libraries
Became a top-10 E-rate vendor generating over $678 million in E-rate funding approvals since the program’s inception in 1998. E-rate is a funding source that helps schools and libraries offset the cost of connectivity and telecommunications services.
Delivered high-speed broadband connection speeds ranging from 5 Mbps to today’s speeds of 10 Gbps and higher meeting and exceeding the State Educational Technology Director’s Association’s broadband recommendations
Grown our service geography supporting millions of students, teachers, administrators, librarians, and patrons in 32 states across the nation
ENA is grateful for the opportunity to partner with schools and libraries across the nation. From the very first Internet connection in Tennessee to some of its more recent Wi-Fi deployments in states throughout the nation, ENA is proud of what it has been able to accomplish over the past 20 years, company officials added.
